I make films about the complexity of what it is to be human.

Whether documentary, narrative or commercial, the work begins and ends with understanding.

“…ATMOSPHERICALLY POETIC AND SMART FILM.”
— -HAMBURGER MORGENPOST

The story of Isabelle Caro, Oliviero Toscani’s “NO-Anorexia” model who rose to fame after his campaign.  Through spending time with Caro participating as a member of the jury for Top Model France and as she writes and releases her autobiography we see her attempt to be understood.  But the media has a different plan and aims to exploit Caro’s offering of her body.  Diving through different passages of time, with the aid of family photos as well as video diaries left behind, we see a kaleidoscope of Isabelle's life and the world that surrounded her. In the end, we come to know the complex history of a woman and the extreme life moments that ultimately lead to her death.

“WHY I”

Supercut of “WHY I”

WHY I began with a constraint: we had access to Ronda Rousey for one training session and an hour afterward for an interview.

I wanted to get inside her head while she was training. What was she thinking, feeling and telling herself in the days leading up to a fight? We paired an intimate interview with footage of Ronda training, using her voice to take us inside the experience of pushing her body to its limit.

That idea expanded into a series following female athletes on their way to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Through voiceover, we move inside the minds of some of the world’s best athletes — hearing what they think about, struggle with, remember and tell themselves while they train.

The series featured Ronda Rousey on the eve of her fight with Holly Holm; Olympic gold medal hurdler Dawn Harper-Nelson ahead of qualifying races; Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan following her recovery from a major injury; and twelve-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin reflecting on past victories and the possibility of what might come next.

ADIDAS

“SUPERSTAR”

Selected video portraits from the Adidas Superstar campaign.

SUPERSTAR video portraits were created alongside Nadine Ijewere’s dynamic and joyful still portraits of young and inspirational talents with a voice. I wanted the camera movement to create an intimate study of each person — to bring you in, to feel as though you were meeting or spending a moment with this impressive group of artists and activists.

The campaign featured Barbie Ferreira, electronic producer and artist Madame Gandhi (Kiran Gandhi), rapper Le1f (Khalif Diouf), skateboarder and actress Rachelle Vinberg, climate activist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez and feminist artist Arvida Byström.

All interviews and video production by Go Parachute. Directed by Kiki Huynh.

LE LABO x FAIRMONT HOTEL

The idea was to follow the making of Le Labo’s Rose 31 from start to finish and tell the story of how both the perfume and Fairmont Rose 31 lotion came to be.

We created a POV-driven film that moves through the process from the inside, embracing the beauty and care that goes into each handcrafted bottle while still being playful and having fun with the world around it.

Created alongside my good friends and Le Labo founders Fabrice Penot and Eddie Roschi, it was an honor to make a film about one of their most iconic scents.

Production, story and direction by Go Parachute. Directed by Kiki Huynh.
